How to label devices

MAAS provides a robust device labelling system that allows you to easily manage and configure your machines. With tags, annotations, and dynamic annotations, you can sort and describe your machines with ease, and filter your UI dashboards quickly and efficiently.

Machine tags are the most commonly used tags, which not only help to sort your machines but also to configure them during deployment, such as with kernel options. You can also add static and dynamic annotations to your machines, with the former being persistent and the latter lasting only for the duration of a specific deployment.

Using machine tags comes with several nuances, so it’s essential to know how to use them effectively. Additionally, you can also tag controllers, making it easy to distinguish them, and use storage and network tags to remember specialized configurations for storage and network interfaces.

With MAAS device labelling, managing and configuring your machines has never been easier.
